Home: Caffe AmericanoThis is made up from espresso topped up with hot water. The strength of the drink can vary, depending on the amount of espresso included. The story goes that is was invented during World War Two in Italy. The stationed American soldiers were not used to the strength of a full espresso coffee. Due to the predominant coffee drink in America being from drip machine. The drip machine simply being coffee grounds with water drop through it. The Caffe Americano was an attempt to replicate this drink by watering down espresso. Caffè Americano is spelt using the French for coffee and the Italian for American. As stated the water and espresso ratio has no standard and varies for the Americano. |
